Anil Kumar Jain Versus Maya Jain,

Hon’ble the Punjab and Haryana High Court

In the case of Anil Kumar Jain vs. Maya Jain, the Punjab, and Haryana High Court ruled that the act of a wife going to her husband’s office and abusing him in front of his colleagues and subordinates amounted to cruelty.

The case was filed by the husband seeking a divorce from his wife on the grounds of cruelty. He alleged that the wife had physically and mentally tortured him, and had also filed false cases against him and his family members.

The High Court, after examining the evidence presented by both parties, observed that the act of the wife going to the husband’s office and abusing him in front of his colleagues and subordinates was a grave act of cruelty. The Court held that such behavior was not only insulting and humiliating for the husband, but also affected his reputation and standing in the office.

The Court also noted that the wife had made false allegations against the husband and his family members, and had filed several false cases against them. The Court observed that such behavior on the part of the wife had caused mental agony and harassment to the husband and his family members.

Based on these observations, the High Court allowed the husband’s petition for divorce on the grounds of cruelty. The Court held that the wife’s behavior towards the husband was such that it made it impossible for the couple to continue their marital relationship, and that the husband was entitled to a divorce.
